My grandfather would bring home a few rolls of pennies when he cashed his railroad pay check every Fri., I was 5 years old & it was 1952.
We saved them all in rolls as I remember. My mother and I moved to S.C. the next year and he retired from the railroad in 1965, I was a senior in school, the Eagle's we saved and others he kept sorting paid for 4 years of my college. FV 4.00+-

I was wondering the same thing, but I presume finding one in the wild is next to nill.

I believe someone on the TreasureNet forum posted that he or she found one in the wild about six months ago. I don't recall the story, but it's amazing if true.

IMO, you'll have a better chance at snagging a FEC with a discriminator than than you would by
sorting of any kind.

Not saying it couldn't happen, as all things can, but buying a lottery ticket might bring better results.

Well... how many 1857-1864 cents have even been found? Seems like finding ANY of those dates would be... huge.

I don't know if this counts, but I was at my girlfriend's Aunts house, and they gave me a few jars of coins to search thru.. and low and behold, there was an 1857 Flying Eagle cent. I handed it to her and said take good care of this. It would have been crazy to think that she could have gone to the nearest TD Bank and dumped it into Penny.
