Nice run of BU coppers this week.

Since I've started roll searching I've been amazed at the number of wheat cents still in circulation, and the number of choice brilliant uncirculated pre-82's that I've been finding. I'm not talking nice looking coins with a bit of mint luster I'm talking full on CHOICE UNCIRCULATED looks like it just came out of a mint bag BU.

This week alone I've found 1 61-D, 1 63-D, 2 64-D, 1 66, 1 68-S, 2 69-S, 2 70-S, 1 74-S, 1 75, 1 78-D and 1 81-D

Now I wish I would have started roll searching before I bought all the moderns in BU. :(

Edit to add a 73-D, 73-S and another 81-D to the list.

Oh I'm keeping them, I'm checking them against the one's I already have to see if they qualify as an upgrade. The rest I'm holding onto for a while and I'll probably put them up on ebay.

I have a customer who knows that I collect wheaties. So far he has sold me for face value 250 wheaties. He keeps low mintage dates but has still given me some nice S mints. I told him that I do all copper but he said he did not have the time to sort those and did not want to let me sort all his pennies. Some of these wheaties are still shiny as can be from the 40's.

think I heard somewhere here that the price of common wheats has actually gone DOWN because of folks cashing in their penny jars because of the economy. I have been finding a bit more than usual in customer wrapped rolls!
"Is that a roll of pennies in your pocket?" "Why yes miss, it is... why do you ask?"

i wish i had that problem. i don't find many wheats at all. $300 face searched has gotten me about 20-25% copper, but a little less than 2 rolls of wheaties.
