If this is anyone on here; fess up in a PM - I'll keep your secret!
This has got to be an act of genius because I'm just not smart enough to understand it.
So Sorting halves the last couple of week I have come upon the strangest marking method I've ever seen
for someone to track if they're getting the same coins back.
The edges are all painted silver.
So when you open a roll, you find two or three silver edges staring at you, but upon further investigation,
you find they're all '71s and '72s.
The logic escapes me.

It must just be a twisted individual that likes to screw with people.
Although I can see the fun it it (ok, I have a twisted side to me), it doesn't seem like it would be worth the hassle.
If you are waiting for the "correction" to buy you need to realize that the increasing prices ARE the correction.
$100 Silver soon coming to a location near you.

Could be a more devious reason - someone trying to disappoint other competitors in the roll searching game in a bid to get them to quit.

That one occurred to me.
I'm withholding the insult in case it's someone here.

People must have a lot of time on their hands. If you're getting coins from rolls, I would think it would be easier to mark the edge instead of taking out the coin and drawing a line on the obv of the coin. Getting marked coins is much better than getting boxes where the wrappers are cut with a razor and retaped.

It was most likely it was someone trying a scam that didn't work and the coins ended up at the bank. When sorting haves I always look at the edges first then the date. Someone was hoping the buyer would skip the second step.

This used to happen to me, when I still searched... my conclusion was, it was someone just messing with other sorters.

He only edge checks and wants to see if he got his own searches back. That's my guess.
