I search them then keep them all. I'm real small time in nickels though, only a couple of rolls a week.

I buy and stack, but don't really have any intention of sorting through them...seems like too few goodies to find to make it worthwhile.

I search too many nickles to keep them all. I do however keep $1000 FV on hand. Why not. As I search for Buffs and Wars, I will pull any "Pre-60" that I see and I save them. As the pre-60's build up, I put them in place of the regular bricks that I keep on hand. Eventually, I will have 10 bricks of pre-60's. I just think it is cooler to keep the older ones. I just kinda set my limit on regular CuNi at $1000 so that I can use the other funds for copper, silver, .999 ni, lead, and so forth.

I only stack a few bank rolls per week, cwr I search and toss in a bucket no intentions of returning any of them.

Ditto. Apart from the silver and buffalos, I'm going for a roll for every year and mintmark. any overflow above that goes into a pile and once I get $50-100 I'll see if I can sell it for a little over face and turn that money into silver.

I sort and save all pre-60 nickels, 2000-P, and 2009s. While i'm at it i also set aside all 1960 - 1964 for my hoard, since i see alot of those.

2000-P? I've never heard of anyone doing that. Why?

That is pretty much exactly as I do... except... I limit it, for the time being, to $500. stacked of older to keep, and the other $500. on hand to sort as soon as I can. Then return the newest and non numi of those so I can re purchase more to sort as time permits. I hope to be able to eventually keep $1000. stacked to keep, and $500. on hand to sort, but can't for now due to space limitations.

2000-p has a lower mintage than even the 2009s, which is very low for a nickel.

2000-p 31,200,000
2009-p 39,840,000
2009-d 46,800,000

My sources say 2000p was a mintage of 846 million. Curious - where did you get your figure?

I checked out some other websites, and it looks like 846 million is correct. Thank you uthminsta for pointing that out.

I used to search and return, but I don't have time anymore. I now only stack the bricks. :D

When I started with nickels I would sort down by decades, but lately I've just been stacking. I've found that for the most part I have a ton of 200x, 199x, 198x namely two Brink's boxes of each decade. Anything prior to that is just not a lot of.

I haven't found any 2009's yet as of today. I have run across a 2000 though. I will keep that in mind when I sort my next box.
