Good Box?

Postby m21221 » Sat Mar 10, 2012 7:30 am

Hello, I don't search nickel boxes very often but picked up 2 yesterday while getting my weekly penny allotment. The first box (String & Son) yielded 3 war nickles which I was quite pleased with but the second box...that's where it gets interesting (for me). Until yesterday I had never seen a Liberty nickel and now I've seen (8)! I found (8) Liberty's, (10) Buffalo's and (2) more war nickels. The 1945 nickel looks almost un-circulated, 4 of the steps are visible of the reverse. I'm not a grader though so who knows. The 45 also has golden toning on both sides which made it stick out like a sore thumb when I dumped the roll to search. Anyway, I was excited to show my kids and wife who very also amazed. BTW, a big thank you to this forum for turning me on to this a while back.

Mike

Wow nice score. I have done over 50 boxes of nickels and I have never had a box like that. Congrats

This kind of find will energize me for months, it just hard to fathom how so many ended up in one box.

Looks like you hit a real rare box, I'll grab 2-4 Buff's and 8-10 Canadian pre-82's, but never any V nick's. Well done!

Amazing! I have done hundreds of dollars of nickel searching and have only found 2 buffs! but one was a 1919s in very fine condition. I do find a good many war and lots of really nice au at times for my book sets I am working on.

Congratulations, although I wish that I had found that box instead of you.   I hope that my turn is coming.

Searched another box yesterday, and found 1 dateless buffalo. Oh well, I'm probably not due anytime soon.

The drought is over, pulled 6 silver's out of 2 boxes today. Much better luck than the dime boxes I do occasionally.
