Found my first Seated Liberty coin!!!!

Postby jtlee321 » Sun Mar 11, 2012 5:06 am

I finally found my first Seated Liberty coin today. It is an 1883 Seated Liberty dime. I went through 3 boxes of dimes today and the first box I opened had just one dime in it. I noticed that it looked a little bent in the roll and figured it was a beat up Roosie or Merc. But to my surprise, when I opened the roll I saw Little Miss Liberty staring up at me!! I had to do a double take. At first I thought it was a foreign because the coin's obverse was inverted. But when I turned it right side up I recognized it immediately. It almost took my breath away. The other 2 boxes were skunks, but that did not bother me in the least.

Congrats jtlee - she's a real looker.
If you are waiting for the "correction" to buy you need to realize that the increasing prices ARE the correction.

Boyah! Great find. You might want to hang up searching dimes. It doesn't get any sweeter then that. Unless you pick up a 1916 D. :o

I'm absolutely going to keep hitting those dimes. They seem to be doing much better than the Half Dollars around here. At least BWR coins anyway. I still love those coin counter bags.. :D

Point taken on the halves vs dimes. Hunt where the ducks are. I haven't hit the sliver search in some time. Month ago, bank asked if I would take $500 in CWR dimes along with the cents. I took em to keep them happy. One silver dime for all that work. Just wasn't worth it. :(
