I have driven up and down the same on-ramp for the past few weeks, and today I decided to get out of my car and pick up all of the aluminum cans...
During the walk, I looked down and found a little digital scale!
It is a digi-weigh DW-100AS. Although not the best or the most heavy duty.. it does the job for 82 pennies and my little piles of scrap silver and gold!

More than likely it was used for dealing drugs, then tossed out the window.
I found one in a bathroom at a park next to a local high school, and I'm 99% certain that's what it was used for.

I found one under a couch cushion at a place I moved into in 2006 and I'm 99% certain it was used to weigh stuff to within 1/100th of gram or so. Hrm, hrm.
