Penny with Kennedy face?

Postby geewhzz » Fri Nov 19, 2010 1:49 am

Found this when sorting today. Anyone know what it's all about?

Is it worth hanging on to or should it go in the copper hoard?

Thanks..

I keep all the counterstamped I find(but I'm weird like that). Not worth anything extra.
Don't understand why there are so many Kennedy CS cents maybe some failed marketing atempt.
They sold CS 50 state ones backaround the bicentenial.
Only connection I know of is that Abe and JFK both were assassinated.

Looks more like Ulysses Grant than Kennedy...

Got a kennedy last night on a 1975-d. In the bag, also, was the 1976 one with the liberty bell on it, too! I've found about a dozen total counting these and the ones with the states on them. They all went to the copper pile!

It's an interesting list. Been around for some time. A more modern touch was been added with some sarcastic humor about Mariyln Monroe.

Snopes.com has a article on it for anybody that wants to digest it further.

I found another one the other day...but it was on a 1993 zinc cent. Very highly corroded and so it went back to the bank. Every other counterstamp I've found were on copper cents.
