Copper Sickness?

Postby SilverDragon72 » Fri Mar 23, 2012 1:28 pm

Ok. Have I taken this nickel/copper thing just a bit too far? I visited my CU the other day and ordered 2 boxes of pennies and a box of nickels. I will pick them up in less than 2 weeks, however....could I wait? NO. I visited a different branch of my CU just to see what I could get and I left with 50 in nickels and 10 in pennies! :) Hand sorted the pennies last night and found close to 40 percent in coppers! One wheat and several Canadians. I will take care of the nickels later! I do have a large amount of Zincs to dump though....what could I pick up when I return those coins, hmm??

If that's sickness, there are many here that are incurably diseased.

Should we need to talk to the CDC?

Nah. I would just talk to Doc from WV. ;)

It's Ok! After finishing off my nickels tonight, I found a 42 War Nickel among the rolls :D I also found 2 Canadian coins! We don't need to call the CDC for this case, but maybe some intervention for other people on here?

But my shipment doesn't arrive for almost 2 weeks! Can I wait that long?? Should I switch to rolls of quarters to ease the pain?

I'd skip the quarters unless you feel really really lucky. Then again with the results you got on the war nics maybe you should go for it.

Another way I avoided the sickness today....I went to a coin show in Madison, WI.....and ended up leaving with 71(Ike) dollar coins! Kind of neat, since I didn't have any until today. However, I wanted to buy a piece of silver or two, but the city of Madison passed some STUPID law the other day, prohibiting the sale of precious metals to anyone except those who are wholesale dealers. Not sure why they did that, but when I got to the show, about 1/2 of the tables were EMPTY. I heard that the city charged a 2k fee for a permit to sell, and of course, most people weren't willing to pay it, and so decided to pack up and leave. It sucks for them, since many of them came from outside of Wisconsin to sell their wares.

That's a pretty effective way to ensure they'll never see another dime in coin show revenues.

Pretty much ensures they will need to spend taxpayer money to defend against law suits too. i seriously doubt they could win at all, but if the ordinance attempts to ban ASEs and AGEs as well then they're trying to prevent people from buying legal tender. That sounds like something that would make a Federal agency sue the city.

Ooh! Less than a week before I pick up my next shipment of coin! 3 boxes should keep me busy for a while, since I hand sort everything! 1 Nickel, 2 penny boxes :)

just like the slots. get lucky at pennies, move up to nickels. dimes, quarters, and halves dont sound like too much, but ya gotta have a bankroll to play those stakes....

OH NO!!! It spread over here now. I think the desease is mutating. It started off as a box of pennies and it is turned into a box of pennies with bag of pennies growing out of its side.

Yes! Onward and upward is how I like to do it. I wish I could do more in coins, but I got these things called bills....and I have to pay them once in a while :o . Keeps the wolf away from the door (and my hoard too) as my dad used to say.

Tomorrow I get my next shipment! YAY!

Uh oh. I feel another bout of sickness coming on....fortunately, I do have 4 box delivery of the copper coins to pick up next week. The question is...can I hold out that long?? I did manage to find a nice looking 1957 Wheat penny in one of the batches I went through. Kind of shiny, actually! :)
