Low Yields

Postby Shifty51 » Tue Apr 03, 2012 9:21 am

Are anyone else's yields diminishing? Mine have been taking a hit...In my part of the country they have never been that great (17% - 18%) but they have been really even lower here lately.

What part of the country are you in? Northeast was doing just fine (>25%) for me up to six months ago. Can't say how things are since then.

This sometimes happened to me but nothing really long-term. I found rates in the very high 20's or next to zero (when i was given the dirty new year mints 09-11).

Just keep sorting and the rate usually returns to your previous average. Or you may find this is the new average. Hope it's not a new average for you guys.

I have complained about a trend toward lower yields on average, but this past couple of weeks I got a load of 10 boxes that happened to be my best commercial boxes ever, for here. Circa 28%, which I usually run 20-22, with dips into the upper teens. (Not counting CWR.) These were also unusually clean compared to the recent trend of abnormally dirty, verging on disgusting, coins. Which makes me believe this was just a fortunate anomoly - a group of boxes that happened to get transferred from another region, or some boxes cleaned out from a corner of the warehouse, etc.

Northeast US here. Still getting 20-25% Cu's on average... some boxes near 30% on rare occasions.

BUT... I am getting boxes full of new zincs much more than I used to. That just started about 1 month ago.

I've been getting around 24% on brinks boxes here but by the far the best that I have been doing it with CWR's. Sometimes getting well over 50%. The best that I got on a CWR box was 85%. I couldn't believe it. Early on, I got a box that contained over 400 wheaties.

Right now I'm averaging 25% after searching over 71 boxes by hand. The scarcest item that I've come accross is the '09 pennies (less than 600 over all four mintages with the presidental years being the least). I haven't found to many San Franscisco minted items either.

All told I've found around 900 Wheaties. Someday I will have to take the time to determine what I have in those coins.
Don't look back. Something may be gaining on you.

Neither a penny or a nickel is worth face value anymore.

According to Country's stats, I was at 27.11% for all of 2011. It's early, but so far in 2012 I'm at 26.18%

That's gonna jump some this month as I had a record breaker String box last night...nearly 64% (1597) coppers '59-'81. No idea where that came from. None of my other branch pick ups have shown a jump remotely like that. The best box I had all last year was only 836 cents.

My copper percentage for March was 12.73%. That's well below the 17% to 18% range I typically see each month. Getting a few solid 2011-D boxes sure didn't help.
