TD let swap out some halves today

Postby CardsNCoins » Sat Apr 07, 2012 10:17 am

I was dumping dimes this morning at a TD bank, and when the machine was open for them to change the dime bag I noticed some silver halves in the half bag. There were hardy any halves in the bag, but most looked silver. I had halves in the car that were ready for a different dump bank, so I asked the girl if I could swap some of my halves for the ones with the white edges in her bag that I collected. She said she would ask her manager (usually not a good sign), and I thanked her and went to get the halves from my car to speed up the process in case the answer was yes. When I came back in the bank (I was gone less than 1 minute), she was going through the bag to help find the ones I needed. In that short of time I figured there was no way she asked anyone if it was OK, but I wasn't gonna bring that up. Here is what I got for $6.50:

1942 Walking Liberty
1943 Walking Liberty
1950 Franklin
1952 Franklin
1953 Franklin
1962 Franklin
1963 Franklin
3 - 1964
1 - 1966
1 - 1967
1 - 1968

And a 1964 quarter from the return tube of the machine. :D

It's weird that the machine would reject the silver quarter, but accept all those 40% and 90% halves.

Nice finds. WTH is up with people in your area dumping silver left and right. Around here, the average person has gotten much more savvy regarding us silver coins. I get questioned more and more about whether I have looked fOr silver when doing halves. I also have quite a bit of competition on my area as well. You make more hunting silver than a lot of people do in their full time jobs...nice job, take the teller some donuts..,

Some one needs a thank you card or flowers. Nice work!

I have yet to have any luck getting the half bag off my TD branch.

They let me do the same thing once. My score was much smaller. 4 90%'s I think, but it was still awesome. Even since then I have kept a small stash of halves in my truck in case I ever get another swap out opportunity again. The right teller, and you are in luck. But most would probably not do this.

Awesome score!!! My luck is I would spot them and then the answer would be no. I would then have to sit there and imagine what could have been. That is the worst part. Happy Hunting man!!!

Well it's about time you score some silver. You, alone, are in need of silver. Is this your first nice score....?

Play the lottery already! :D

You guys all keep mentioning treats for the tellers, and understandably so, but trust me, none of you want my monthly munchkin bill.
