Last weekends Penny sort

I had to clean up my sorting area so I decided to sort pennies last weekend (usually I am sorting halfs.) I layed out $3000 dollars in bags and had my 3.5 gallon buckets ready. By the end of the weekend I had $2415 in zinc/$585 in copper. 19.5% - sorting pennies these days is a lot harder than it seems. Thankfully they were in bags so I just had to dump them. If they were in rolls... I don't know what I would have done. Now I have to go dump the zincs it is so annoying spending money on bags to dump zincs.

Wow! I have $300 in bags waiting to be sorted and I thought that was a lot.

howd you guys get the penny bags? did you call your bank and place a order for say a 500 dollar bag?

Penny bags come from coin counting machines, some banks sell their penny bags from the coin counters, some don't. $50 per bag.

I got my second Ryedale last week (first apprentice, second maxx) and am very happy with both of them. I hand sorted for a while and now do machine sorting. The rhythem of the Ryedale is in my opinion calming. I'll post pics tommorow of the sort.

You have to find the right bank... Some will sell you bags some won't. You have to be extemely nice but persistent. Ten No's and then a Yes is a good thing.
