before i forget...a movie reccomendation

to the TPTB here, brothers, i know this is the "silver" board, its the main boardi read, and i saw a film the other day that was so good, so different, and the only reason i want to post it here, is that it MIGHT dovetail with what the worldview some of us stackers might have.

its called "Take Shelter". and its 5 stars. How i got to see it, was that i read of this film being given the critic's grand prize at the Cannes film festival, and i know what ya'll might be thinking, ...."frogs, what the heck they know!"...no, this film is different, its not a crazy, cannibal apocalyptic film, the special effects are sparsely used. Its just about a regular guy in Ohio, who starts to have dreams, and decides he's got to beef up his tornado shelter. its not a "horror" film.

It rocked my world a bit, its real good. You can see it on Amazon as 3.99 rental, here''s the trailer:

Did anyone see Curtis stacking Silver? His visions of apocalypse and collapse are different from most of ours. Still having that supply of non-perishable foods and dry gunpowder is wise in our uncertain future. I don't think it will be a storm that will cause the collapse. It is our people, as whole, who have become too dependent on the government to provide everything, that are putting us over the tipping point. We have become a nation of moochers, expecting the government to pay for everything, (food, medical care, education, shelter, even birth control, to name a few). I have seen too many people claim any excuse not to work to go on welfare in sharp contrast to people with real disabilities and disadvantages who will do anything to prove themselves and contribute their fair share by getting a job and doing the best they can at their job. As long as we have such a large entitlements portion eating up the Federal Budget, the feds will have no choice but to continue printing money from thin air or else default loans. Keep stacking!

A few morals from the story:

Don't always/blindly trust the "experts"
Never betray your friends
Keep your preps private
Be sure to include those important to you in the plans
Be a good Boy Scout and Always Be Prepared
Prep not just your things, but also your psyche

I'm sure there is more...
Brick and mortar shop: buy, sell, and trade anything precious- coins, bullion, scrap, jewelry, gems, etc.

hence, "don't trust the experts" (since his Dr. told him to go on vacation)... and "be a good Boy Scout" lines... :geek:

I cant say I thought it was all that good of a movie. not as bad as many things passed as movies these days, but it wasnt terribly entertaining or thought provoking.

A friend recommended the film, "In Time" to me recently. I haven't seen it yet but the story looks pretty interesting. The movie takes place in the not too distant future, and life itself is dependent upon how much money you have. Nobody ages past 25, the rich can live forever but the poor die young. Here's the trailer:

Anybody seen it yet?
