I loaded up all of my scrap metal yesterday and took it in today after work.

480 lb tin/steel
52 lb alum. cans
22 lb alum. ECW
58 lb cast alum.
49 lb sheet alum.
3 lb mixed brass
9 lb "irony" brass

I got a total of $113.95 for everything. I also cashed in $25.87 in metal detecting coins at the Coinstar machine, does that count as recycling? :?

Welcome to Realcent.

You need to find a new scrap yard. :|
If I have the gift of prophesy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to move mountains but do not have love I am nothing. And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I surrender my body to be burned but do not have love it profits me nothing.

On another scrap metal site I saw some people are scrapping carpet pad. A guy was getting .07 - .10 a pound. I looked around me and found a place that will take it for .03 a pound. I figure I would need more than a truck full of it to make it worth it. My wife would just love me stock piling carped pad untill I have enough!

Just called my scrapyard to check what they're paying for what they call shredder iron(things that aren't 100% metal, bicycles etc.) They told me $.04/lb. They usually pay anywhere from .07 - .09/lb.
