Trade?

Postby OtusLotus » Thu May 03, 2012 7:32 pm

My buddy was discussing how he sold 4 Mercury dimes this week at his Jewelry store. And that he sold them for almost $4 each. I told him that I had a bunch of them and would trade them straight up for his Morgans...He originally said no, he would only trade them for his Franklins. He then said what the heck, and we are going to do the deal.

Just wondered what everyone else would do.

Don't understand the impression of rarity - they aren't rare. Buy a bag of silver dimes and you'll have a bunch of them included.

I would happily buy ever Morgan or peace he will trade for ten mercs. I'd also like to visit the pawn shop that buys them for $4 each.

F Yes. I would make that place go bust.

We are aware, aren't we, that a Morgan or Peace dollar has more silver in it than ten Mercury dimes? I mean, it's like a twentieth of an ounce more! Or are we talking slick Peaces/Morgans for unc Mercs?

We are talking nice morgans.. nothing special, but no slicks either.

I was going to do it b/c the Morgans have more silver in them... for every 30 dimes, I would get like 2 dimes free in silver.

depends.

an unworn Merc has .07 toz, times 10 thats .70 toz.

a Morgan or Peace dollars has .77 toz, so you gain an extra "merc".....07 toz, but you lose the fractionable quality of a silver dime for trade purposes.

two Franklins or 64 Kenn's have .72 toz. (.36 each)

i dunno, how about this, i trade YOU two 63 GEM/BU Franklins for 10 1941-45 GEM/BU Merc's....(heeheehee)

kidding, its a bad trade, you guys seen how ....excuse me, just got a roll of IKE's delievered that were bought as 71-s PROOFS, and the seller MUST THINK I GOT "MORON" stenciled on my forehead, coz i'm looking at UNCIRC"s!!!!...

short story, Gem/Bu Merc solid date rolls are hot, trade at 80 times 10FV...see ya, off to handle biz
