I saw these on Ebay, and since I am a novice when it comes to gold collecting,I thought I would ask for opinions here.
Do you think these are worth getting or knock offs?

They are gold plated copper. Steer clear of anything that says "mills" on it.

How would you figure the melt on these, and on the silver ones that are all over ebay? I'm just curious because I see them go pretty cheap because everyone know's they are a type of scam. But are they really worth more than what they're going for?

Seems to me the melt value would be based on the underlying substance, not the covering... which is infinitesmal in proportion compared to what it covers. These are worthless, pretty baubles, and unfortunately, will lure some ignorant or gullible people into purchasing items that they think are "real." It is not a scam if the listing accurately mentions the mil coatings, but nonetheless, caveat emptor. Image

Stay away from anything with "Mills" in it, these are junk with a thin gold/silver plating.

While you're at it, stay away from "German Silver" this is just a nickel alloy, and NOT silver in any way, just silver-colored.
