Any worth looking at SBAs ?

Postby theshoenlebens » Tue May 29, 2012 6:35 pm

Hey guys,
The bank asked me if I wanted any Susan B Anthony coins. I guess they have around $400 and I have no idea what to look for. If there is anything to really make it worth looking for I'll take them but not wanting to if there isn't any value in it for me.
Thought ?????

Looks like some of the proofs of specific types are worth a bundle. Probably very unlikely to find one, but who has $400 SBA's? Maybe Someone cashed in an inherited collection. Maybe I am totally nuts, but I it were me, I think I would take them. It'll only cost you some time. And I guess it might also cost you a few chocolates at your dump bank.

I would rather take a beating than get $400 in SBAs.

We look at 2K of them and still had to buy some from Ebay to fill the album.

As you can see in henrysmedford pic, the `79 had 2 varieties. Of the two, the Near Date a.k.a. Wide Rim is the hard one to find. The dies were modified late in the year. In high grades it does get a bit of a premium. Well circulated lower grade specimens, I dunno.

Hey, you can't win if you don't play! I would still check them out I think. Although the picture that you detractors paint makes it look like there is nothing to be found (and you are probably right) I still look at that numismedia price list and think "what if" one of those proofs or something popped up. Sort On!
