No official markings that I can find but the legs and handles are cast and soldered on and it has a tarnish like sterling. I cannot find any places where it has been polished through plating.

Do you hit it with a magnet? Scratch an inconspicuous part and look under magnification to see the color. A lot of stuff I have seen like that has been plated.
"If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children wake up homeless on the continent their Fathers conquered....The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs."

The last one that I received looked just like that and was a plated piece, the legs and handles were plated pewter. Check it as blackrabbit told you, get a piece of brass and compare the internal color.

I will do that. I did hit the cutout ring portion with a magnet and it did stick. It did not stick to the handles or legs so I will give it a little filing on the bottom of a leg to check. Perhaps a paid too much.

I've seen some very tempting pieces that I passed on because of no Sterling mark. Is there really unmarked Stirling out there?

How do you know that goblet is Sterling and not plated?

I believe that the piece you bought is silver plated....

Before you take a file and damage the piece, take a loupe, and look around all of the edges and rims.

Good luck, and I hope we are all wrong! Let us know the results!
