Postby JobIII » Mon Jul 09, 2012 7:58 pm

Hey, Finally had a CL hit and I'm not sure what to do. With the PM's bobbling around $27/oz I just wanted to see what you all thought.

Not a bad deal if you buying to invest long term.

Buying to flip? Not a good idea at 18x esp with spot hitting 19.5x last week. A lower offer may work, remember make an offer than makes sense to you and not doing the guy a favor.

He's selling to make money for school books. I told him there's probably people around that will pay 19-20 right now.

Even if you're not making money on a quick flip, there's a chance of finding a key date.

At 18x its a good time to buy. You could turn around and sell for 19x at Provident. If you are still uncomfortable, try meeting and offer like 17.5x. People are willing to make concessions for convenience, especially if you are buying the whole lot. Cash does a lot of talking.

I am sure you bought silver at a lot higher price than 18x...

You can probably do a little better too by rounding down... lets say its $460, offer $450 or $178 offer $150 or if its $1,220,000 offer like $1,000,000

Believe it or not, the most I've paid for silver is 20x face for 90% coins. I wasn't interested to buy when silver was spiking.

Well for me it depends on wether your buying to stack or buying to flip as Robarons is suggesting. Good deal at 18X if your stacking. A bit too high in smaller quantites to buy to flip, most likely won't be worth your time and effort..

Stack it high and dry! I still feel it is going to drop a little more but for the long run you'll be great.

The person lives close enough that it would be a nice bike ride to meet them on a weekend. However I think I've been out bid by another patron on CraigsList. I told the seller they could find a slightly higher offer, my guess is they found one.

Not sure how I feel here. It was mostly BF & K 90% coins.

I wouldnt feel too bad. From an investment buy I would be bummed.

But to buy at 18x and flip for 19x or 19.5x (which these are the rates needed to flip quickly to ensure profits from a falling spot price) means for each $18 you bought from the guy would only be making $1- $1.50. Not worth much, while he gets to unload all his 90% locally for cash that satisfies him.

You will find more deals

I would have at least checked out the collection if it was just a quick bike ride. like someone else said, there might have been something to make it worth while.

Hi H2S04,

Not exactly a quick bike ride, around 40 miles round trip. It was all 1950's BF, and 1964 Kennedys (no 1955). I'm still going to see about a smaller lot of IHC, bufs and Lincolns he's selling.

Also anyone have a clue what liberty gold coins from 2000 would be? Think he's talking about AGE's? I hope they aren't the LIBERTY bullion coins...

lastly I have to say I love your Name always kicks me back to the lab rhyme;

"Billy was a chemist's son, now Billy is no more, what Billy thought was H20 (water) was H2S04 (Sulphuric acid)."

priceless...

I'd love to find some 90% at 18x!
