Never should have offered the deal

Postby reddirtcoins » Thu Jul 26, 2012 8:20 pm

So in my penny stacking I always told my daughter that she could always keep the profit if she sold more than 50 bags in one lot and no less than 1.45. I knew that was a safe number. Well the other day I got home and she hands me a stack of bills. Just for a second I asked, what is this for then just before she answered I knew and had that sinking feeling. Yep, she sold 75 bags. That's right, 75 bags! Needless to say I needed to fork over money for sand volleyball training but now I have a hole in my stack!! Heck it's more like the Grand Canyon.... ... and she didn't even take pictures of the event. F250 with a trailer. The way I figured it I did about 90, 2-Gallon bucket dumps at the bank to sort all of that out.

I was lucky they didn't get away with my 59-81 bag sets.

Well she was lugging halves around and was asked about those. Once they got to talking she found out the person which we know in a round about way was doing coins and from the talk she offered up how ever much he wanted. Just turned out to be a bunch. So, word of mouth.
I've rarely sold any of my pennies and lately have been trying to flip them into wheats. Most I ever sell is a few hundred FV at a time but then again, I don't try. I'm sad to see them go but she's starting down the Olympic Volleyball track so I don't mind.

Copper pennies for an Olympic gold medal. Sounds like a pretty good trade to me. :D

Not to knock the awesomeness of competing in or winning in the olympics, but I recently read that the gold medal is merely gold plated, and that is a damn ripoff if you ask me!

This year's olympic gold medals have six grams of Au.

The 2012 gold is 92.5 percent silver, 1.34 percent gold, and 6.16 copper, with IOC rules specifying that it must contain 550 grams of high-quality silver and 6 grams of gold. The resulting medallion is worth about $500. For the silver medal, the gold is replaced with more copper, for a $260 bill of materials.

The bronze medal is 97 percent copper, 2.5 percent zinc and 0.5 percent tin. Valued at about $3, you might be able to trade one for a bag of chips in Olympic park if you skip the fish.

Maybe I am missing something....

She sold all of those penny bags for $1.45 each?

I know that is not really what happened, but I am a little confused. :?:

Seems logical that 1.45 would refer to 1.45x face value of each penny.
