Estate Sale Find

Postby Franco American » Sat Aug 04, 2012 10:04 pm

I was going to some estate sales today and at the first one I bought an item for 75 cents. I gave the guy a dollar and when he was getting my change I spotted what looked to be a war nickel. I asked if I could have it in my change. He gave me it and 2 dimes. When I examined it I saw it was a 1943 P. That find paid for my item. It wasn't much but it made my day.

Good eye!
When I die, I want to go like Grandpa did. He died in his sleep..... Not screaming and hollering like all the passengers in his car.

Hey Franco this might be off topic, but do you know how 999 Franc coinage is dealt with in France?
Is it sold as bullion or for the base metal? Or is it ignored and tossed aside (which might lead to some buying opportunities for cheap nickel)

When I was living over there you would see it at the flea markets mixed with other obsolete change fromother countries. Depending on the seller. you could pick it up quite reasonably. I used to go through these mixed bins because often times you would find silver american or canadian coins
