My wife is in college now. she is able to get much more money then needed for school. Weve been building up our homestead with it. Its great for us, lots of low interest cash.
the big problem with such easy student loans imo, is that it seems to drive up the cost of tuition. Like anything else lots of cash chasing the same thing, drives up costs. there is no justifiable reason otherwise why tuitions have jumped as fast as they do. It isnt like there arent enough seats in our colleges.
Im a huge fan of this place in missouri. they give you work. Its all lined up before you go. when your done with school, you had a place to live, food, and no loans when your done. Pretty sure some even get to work in their field of choice.
It is strange to me how many I went to school with who either got useless degrees, or didnt end up working in their field of choice. yet its still sold as the only respectable path by many.
I have mixed feelings on online courses. between my wife and I we have several business degrees, a doctorate in psychology, a few general studies and are even a preacher, a few types of environmental studies and several others. (the preacher was through the mail actually) Ive never actually been to college, but Ive done many an online class for others for cash. We lived off this for a few years! So I cant complain, but I couldnt trust such a degree as an employer. knowing what I do. Actually a few of these were in person classes as well, we just did the work.
Before you fault me, it paid real well, we live in an area the economy is horrible, most of these folks simply would have hired someone else, and we didnt seek them out they were mainly friends of my wifes cousin back in NJ who lined up when they saw they could get degrees without doing anything. We also dont do it now that my wife has her degree and is working in her field. although Im thinking of knocking out a few more business degrees and environmental studies degrees, both are particularly easy and Id love to get off grid with electricity.
In these classes I was often able to read the work of others. Holy cow!! I cant believe some of the college level stuff Ive seen! environmental studies degrees are entirely 100% worthless. You might get a job, but its 100% propaganda, with little basis in reality. I say this as someone who reads the topic in depth, and looks at the source data. my wifes classes to be a teacher were disturbing as well, seeing the thought processes of most of the classes. i can only assume our countries education system will get worse, and for the record my wife did proofread my work. Im terrible with spelling and dont much care.
