It looks like the clad layer got ripped off by the machine. The layer appears to be sitting directly above the quarter.

that might be a partial missing clad layer, can you get a close-up picture?

Here is the close up. I should add the the coin counter was broken when we got there the rubber paddle that spin had came loose. The CU went to the back and got a tool box and let us fix it. That is when Franklin found the quarter in the cup in the counter. It funny that some banks and CU treat the counters like Fort Knox and others not as that she left it open when she went to the backroom and let us work on it. At other banks we have been told please step back when they are changing bags. :mrgreen:

That truck was repossessed recently by the bank. The manager put the keys in the coin counter to see if Franklin would try to drive it home.
