Who's a sucker for pretty coins?

I don't have any bids and will probably not bid until the FUN show based on a recent purchase that should arrive today on approval.

If I take it, which is 99% likely, I'll be on the side lines until the FUN show as I plan to buy a couple coins that will require me to save up until then.

Anyway, I'm keeping it and it is a great coin. The coin looks remarkable in hand! The colors on the back are the best I've seen for an 18th century coin, they dance in hand

Barry thats a lot of coin. Top pop all alone. I know it was pricey but I think it is still a super great value for what the coin brings to the table.
Truely a good pickup......miles better than a details half dime IMO. Props for a solid pickup.

Oh, and its pretty too.

Other than it being damaged I wish I had the guts to have bought that half dime actually. I doubt I'll find a cheaper one and I do want one.

Also although the coin above is a technical "top pop" it's just because they have so many nonsensical semi-versions of these older coins. There are like 10 in each of 50 categories. It doesn't make sense

My guess is there are fewer than 2 collectors that "need" this coin and can afford it per 25 years. It's got to be a very small sub set of overall collectors of dollars.

PCGS has 2 in its pop at 63 w/ 4 coins higher.

The provincial coins don't do much for me, although I do have a full date set of Newfoundland halves in relatively poor condition.
I just recently completed my series of Victorian half dollars (1870 - 1901) including major varieties. it's only 15 coins, but exceedingly difficult!

I'd try and guess what coin you have your eye on at L-M but I know I wouldn't have a chance at getting it correct. You seem to buy a little of everything.

I haven't actually seen the Ike's first hand yet but the seller is known for TRUE true views So my guess is they sparkle

Regarding the coin at L-M there are 1 lot that I have representation on and another that I will bid on if the price is "low". Low in quotes because it's not low already!

Actually lets see how good of a guesser you are first, Doc, here are some clues:

The one I'm being represented on is NOT "a" coin.

The other one is a dollar.

The $1 1882 TRADE DOLLAR PCGS PR66 CAC. seems like the look that you like.

1864 50C JUDD-392 PCGS PR63BN. A colorful pattern.

Not that one. But you are right it is a look I like.

The Trade Dollar PR66-CAC is a coin Legend had on it's site for about 3 months at $14,500, so we'll see how that coin does on the open market. Most of the time Legend's prices are high (of course) but fair for the quality but I always thought that coin was at least $1,000 too high.

The dollar I want is older than the one you guessed.

The 1872 is my other guess.

You should be after the 96 proof Morgan in OGH. Now that coin is a value.

And, ironically the other lot does include a proof Morgan that is, in my opinion FAR nicer than the 1896 one

1894 Proof set - a really nice matched set

1795 (or 4?) Flowing Hair Dollar XF45-CAC - This is the one that I'll only try if it stays "low"
