Credit Union Comedy

I'm cashing a check. Woman comes in, asks the teller at an adjacent window for "rolls of silver dollars"

Of course, everyone thinks she means Presidential dollars, or Sacagewea...but no.

'Oh,' says I, 'you mean Eisenhower silver colored dollars, right?'

No, she means 'like this one...', and whips out a Peace dollar. Right, ok. She wants to buy a roll of twenty for $20. The tellers appear perplexed, but all agree they don't think they can order those anymore.

I don't know if a facepalm is the best expression here, or perhaps  or  ....WOW

If that were really the case, how many RC'ers would mortgage their house to get their hand on an unlimited amount of 20 for $20 Peace dollars!!!!!

I hope you offered to buy it from her!!!

I know a lot of banks around the world sell gold and silver bullion. Im surprised that no banks in the USA have started doing thia . I suppose it might be a bit of a conflict of interest.

Did you offer to buy it from her is the question? I bet she would have taken $3 for it

I should've, yeah.

Except she was asking for them to give out as Christmas gifts, so I probably wouldn't have got it.

Not sure if...

...she actually got lucky enough and scored that one from annother bank that only had
one on hand by some weird accident and thought it was normal for banks to get those
in from time to time.

...she's too lazy to roll hunt but still wants silver at face. :D

Thanks for the laugh....that is a good story. People never cease to amaze me. Recently a friend of mine that
works the register at Casey's had a local come in and buy a pack of cigarettes and paid for part of it with a
1928 peace dollar. My friend kept a straight face and that silver dollar was promptly replaced with a $1 bill
after the local left with his expensive pack of smokes.

Tis the season I guess.

Makes the job a little brighter if some silver might fall into your hands once in awhile...I would need a truckload of silver to fall into my pocket in return for having to deal with that job though and the people that come through.
