Buying 1oz American Gold Eagles...

I have been watching my "portfolio" of metals and am thinking of investing in gold. Does anyone have any recommendations about which 1oz to buy? Bars, rounds, american? Oh yeah and where they best place to buy it from is? - I'm looking for 2 oz. Thank You.

Judging by your feedback it seems redundant to mention the buy/sell forum here, but there might be a deal or two popping up here. The spreads over spot on 1 oz. gold is usually quite high when buying from other sites, so you may save a decent chunk buying here. If you must venture elsewhere, Provident and Apmex are the two I would deal with.

With the few ounces of gold I have, I stuck with American Eagles and Canadian Maples, along with with a Buffalo because it is the most beautiful gold coin out there IMO. I figured that if I am going to sink a decent stack of cash into an ounce of gold, it may as well be pleasing to look at for years to come instead of a generic bar.

I buy thru Provident Metals and APMEX, Provident has slightly cheaper shipping so I try and use them as much as possible. If your just looking for two 1oz rounds and don't have a preference, I'd go with 2 maples. The savings would be about $60 currently over eagles or buffalos. You could take that $60 and have them throw in a couple of silver maples to the order.

Someone posted about a month ago a site that had gold buffalos for $30 or so cheaper than Apmex and Provident, I have been looking for that thread as well, because I wanted to pick up a few of them. If I come across it, I will post it in here.

Someone posted about a month ago a site that had gold buffalos for $30 or so cheaper than Apmex and Provident, I have been looking for that thread as well, because I wanted to pick up a few of them. If I come across it, I will post it in here.

Ok I think I found it, check out Goldmart.com, they lookto be around $30 cheaper per buffalo, and a little over $20 cheaper on Eagles.
