Definitely the Mercuries and the Walkers in these scenarios. The difference is that the aforementioned two coin designs actually command a numismatic premium (though not usually significant), whereas Roosies and '64 Kennedys are really only valuable for their metal content. Simple as that. Regardless of whether your purposes are or aren't numismatic-centered, you are better served choosing the coins that would get you more cash.

The debate/arguement those guys had at silverbugs is hilarious!
What a stupid topic to get all worked up and mad about, reminded me of a bunch of gradeschoolers.
The end of the thread ends with "Kirktard"......Could it be?

Doesn't hurt to have some of the older type denominations, but maybe an 80/20 ratio of modern to old, at most... if you're serious about stacking. If you're more into numies, of course that would change, and you already know what to expect... coins with greater wear, commensurate with age. Think about this... people are constantly culling thins... coins are being melted and those that are become an irretrievable loss to future generations of coin collectors. As stackers, we are the conservators of our numismatic hobby. Our stashes are the coffers of future finds as we release coins back into the wilds. :shh:

It may be. I'm sure this is not the only board he has been chased out of.

Rosies and Ken's, no doubt about it. "Fuller" weight silver. How hard is it for people to check the rims and to remember the date 1964, to account for '65-'70 halves?
Who the heck would trade a 1916-D for a gallon of gas? I'd hold out for at least two gallons.

Only high grade common mercs have any added value long term. If you went very long term then the lower grade common mercs would make sense. So how long you holding for? Lower grade common mercs are usually all you are going to get out of the junk bins.

I used to think mercs all the way too, but then realized I was wasting metal. 64 roos all day!!!

Can I please have people not contact me about this thread asking if i'm selling? Three of you folks have done this. If I was selling, it'll be in the proper forum and not here.
