Howdy, Zincanator. Thanks for joining realcent. There are many members in Texas. We're thinking about seceding from the rest of the forum because it just makes cents to do so.

Welcome, fellow Texan. I have competition.

Is the y-axis copper percents or # of coppers?

Hey thanks!

The Y-axis (left/vertical) is the percentage copper cents. But since the stats are per 100 cents sorted, it turns out to be the exact # as well.

So far this year:

Central Illinois: (2) Brinks Boxes 31% combined

North Central Illinois: (3) Gaurda Boxes 27%, 30% and the last box was 41%!!!!!!

On a side (yet humorous note), so far every box has turned up EXACTLY (4) Canadian Pennies each box.

Roughly 20-30 percent on average. Add a sprinkling of Canadians and Wheaties and you're talking fun!

I don't usually count, but I estimate 20-25%, probably leaning towards 25, especially if you count the 82s I don't save anymore.
267,500 pennies and 186,000 nickels searched. Hand sorter.

I'm getting brinks boxes with a range of 20-30% with the average of 26% here in central Indiana. It's been steadily declining from the 30% average I was getting three years ago. I occasionally get $50 bags that are around 23-25%. The wheat percentages of the boxes are .03-.04% and I get slightly less than that in Canadian copper.

I talked a teller out of $39 in Customer Wrapped Rolls. Here are the results. Bottom numbers mark dollar # (sampling point). Vertical is percentage.

I just ran a $50 counter bag. It had roughly 3600 zinc, 1400 copper, and I picked out 14 wheats...along with one George VI.

Got 22 CWRs at one bank... 18 at another. Those last 18 were like little time capsules - some beautiful AU/BUs from the 60's - 80's. And LOTS of Coppah 40-50% easy almost every time!

Just went through a box with 52% copper return but the strange part was I only found 2 wheats and NO Canadian. Very odd percentages if you ask me.

Another $50 sorted and here's the results. Only showing total copper results this time to make the chart less cluttered. Half of these were CWRs. The first $5.00 was marked 1965 and obviously from a collector, so 100% shiny Cu's on those  . I think that gives a pretty good idea what I'm getting so I won't geek out with any more charts. Plus all that record keeping... ain't nobody got time for dat  !

Hi, I'm new to the group but have been reading the posts for awhile. Been sorting halves for a year (60 boxes) and just started pennies (have hand sorted 6 boxes). Looks like 22-24%, combination of Brinks and CWR's here in the midwest.

Anybody else still sorting?
I just sorted 50,000 cents ,
11,890 Copper
38,110 Zinc
Thats a 24 percent copper ratio , My post here 9 years ago was 25-30 percent,
I would have thought my current sorting would have been a lower ratio.
