They're neck and neck...

Just a question for those who know more than me (or, everyone on this forum) : What is the deal with platinum? Is it valuable because of its scarcity or its utility or both? Should I be trying to get some of it and, if so, what makes it better/worse than gold?

Yeah... I noticed last night it moved 30 dollars in like an hour... higher than gold... should've bought some... hm.
