$227.50 for a $10 FV roll of 40% Kennedys!!!

further continuing our musings on the growing scarcity of 90% (and 40%) American silver coinage, i was (just) watching this roll of 1970-d Kennedy Halves, and it blew my mind when it finally traded at 227.50.

yes yes yes, i KNOW 1970 was THE low mintage year for Kennedy 40's, 2 mln plus circs, and 2 mln plus proof's, but all thru 2011 and 2012, i was buying 1970 rolls, and MAYBE i had to amp the bid by 10 or 20 dollars, that was it.

here's the auction, http://www.ebay.com/itm/321058443057?ss ... 1423.l2649

notice the guys bidding werent noobies, so the way i see it, this is further evidence, high quality 90's and 40's are definitely sought after.

i'm also noticing that several other things,.....the days of plentiful high quality Morgan rolls are over, same with Peace Dollars....you just dont see them in the volumne you used to.

i also notice that Walking Liberty Rolls, high quality, are scarce, as well as 64 Kennedys. The two kind of rolls i see in plentiful supply, are Franklins, and Washington quarters.....quarters in the 1957 to 64, are plentiful, but in both these cases, demand is robust.

but to conclude, that 227.50 trade for a roll of 70 Kenn's is something. neil

It does seem a tad optimistic, even for retail.

I would say your boy lewis is a tad optimistic! :? ;)
Soooo... Is it just me or is a chart of US debt looking dangerously parabolic?
