What should I offer?

Postby theo » Tue Jan 29, 2013 7:24 pm

A co-worker has some nickels from a deceased uncle, I think some of them might be silver war nickels. I was wondering what percentage of spot should I offer? I was thinking 75%. Also, what do you think an LCS would off her for "date visable" buffalos? She likely has some pre-60s nickels for which I will offer $2.50 a roll.

Thanks.

Are the nickels segregated or are they just in an old coffee can?

I think the more organized they are, the more you will have to pay.

Id offer $1/ea on the war nicks and $0.50 on ALL of the buffalo's.

I think that the price would average out over the whole collection.

Or you could bid on the nickels here: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=21123

I wouldn't pay extra for the pre-60s if they're not already separated...
267,500 pennies and 186,000 nickels searched. Hand sorter.

I would check the buy price from Apmex and then offer just slightly under for the war nickels. That way you know your offer will be fair and competitive.
