They wouldn't have any problem getting rid of them! I mean I would start hoarding them too! WHat if they minted a $5 coin with $1 of silver in it? I can understand there not being any PM's in lower denomination coins as it doesn't make sense. Thoughts?

It would be nice insurance, but I think nickels work better for that. Easier to spend dollars, though.
267,500 pennies and 186,000 nickels searched. Hand sorter.

Also, this seems like a stupid thing to do. Why stop making them now, when they're selling to collectors? It's making money...

They should get rid of the 1 dollar paper bill first. That would force people to use the 1 dollar coins.
