Fantastic Day

Postby HPMBTT » Fri Dec 31, 2010 11:30 pm

Today, I decided to hit up a couple new additional banks, in addition to my usual four that I already go to. Anyway, I ended up hitting seven banks and obtained so many customer wrapped rolls of pennies/nickels/halves, that I had to go to my dump bank twice.

So I hit a bank before that I don't normally go to and picked up all the halves they had ($260.00). Plus, the teller was cool and we exchanged a few wheats for zincolns, one-for-one. I went home right away so I could sort and dump right away. I hit the jackpot..practically every roll had silver in it. It had my best score to date:

Franklins 90% - 3 (one worth $27)
Kennedy 90% - 7
Kennedy 40% - 17 (one is BU and will go in the Dansco album)
1976 Silver proof (90%)
1976 Clad Proof
1990 Clad Proof
45 BU's or almost BU's (various years). Many for my Dansco, plus will roll the others
2004-P for the Dansco

Total 6.4 oz silver for an estimated $200 at today's spot prices.

Whew...OK, I'm done. :) Man, I had never felt anything like it. And only for $260 in halves. Now I know the feeling that you guys get when you're pulling 1-2K in halves a week and you hit a big score. It only makes me want that silver even more.

From another bank, I scored another 2 of 40% on only $50 of halves (I keep track of what I get at each bank).

I also ended up hoarding almost $100 in Customer nickel rolls, plus $40 in customer pennies..hopefully, I will find something in them too. My backpack was so heavy with full boxes/bags of coins, I had to clear it out twice. :)

Finally, I went to my one bank where all the tellers know me and I surprised them with some cookies and chocolate. They were very happy. They have always been nice to me, so I decided to return the favor.

So I took the chic out for dinner as a surprise, plus picked up a bottle of nice wine. Needless to say, she was surprised and happy.

Anyway, I just had to tell somebody, so I thought I would post here. :)

Hey, my 100th post! How cool.
P.S. Happy New Year (opening the Chianti bottle now @ 11:30 EST)

Awesome scores!! Good move on dinner and wine for the chica. Don't forget a little chocolate for your favorite tellers from time to time. They love those little token gifts.

Here's to a lot of silver scores in 2011~

Thanks, everyone. I appreciate it! I'm plugging away at those nickels now. So far, just 18 Pre-1960s and 6 CDN nickels.
