Should i call or just go in?

Hi i was wondering if i should call banks or just go in? If you call who do you talk to? Also what do you ask if you call? Do you ask if you can come in and buy amount of rolls? Also if you call is it ok to tell them you dont have a bank acount and you just want the coins they have on hand. Thanks Chris

I just walk in, and have done so at about 6 different banks none of which I have accounts with. None of them have refused to sell me pennies, although a couple have made it clear that they don't want the things brought back. I've gotten anywhere from 20, or so, dollars in CWR that way, up to 5 boxes at one particular visit.

My bank, where I have accounts, orders them for me every other week. Once I told them I wouldn't be returning them, they've been more than happy to accomodate me.

you should go in person, and befriend whoever you are dealing with. Strike up a friendship and you will be more than just a disembodied voice on the phone. I always just walked up to the merchant teller to order boxes, no one EVER asked me if I had a business account. Good luck, it can be a fun hobby

Just go in.
Meeting the cute tellers is the best part of this hobby.
Ask for a box of pennies or CWR's.
Kinda like dating, some will say no, but you'll find the good ones too.

+1 to going in person. Be friendly. Counter their odd looks with a smile. Ignore it when they look at each other confused and roll their eyes. That is where I might throw in "I just love me some pennies!"

And you will learn very quickly which banks will consistently say that you need to have an account to do anything.

Call a bank?

Even banks that were good to me often said no over the phone. That's a tactic that only works reliably for the big players.

Much better to walk in and catch them with their guard down.

I have a hard time finding an actual phone number for branches here in town. It is always some regional hotline. I have talked to them before like it was the branch down the street and they had no idea what I was talking about, my weekly orders. Anyways, just walk in with a friendly demeanor and some cash.
