This week's batch isn't treating me very nice so far, but I did have a bit of luck today. When I went by Wells today to make a business deposit as I always do I requested any halves they might have. The lady told they didn't have any, but had a couple of "big dollars". I assumed they were Ike's, but I like Ike's and throw all I get in a cigar box on my desk (I've only gotten one 40% ever from misc. pickups like this). Low and behold she hands me a 1884 O Morgan and a 1923 Peace - both in really good shape.

Awesome score. I've found one 40% ike but never a peace or morgan.

Thursday's box of halves.....Zip, zilch, zero.......

My boys and I had a great time searching halves last night. We found a bit of 40 & 90 and some really interesting stuff.
(reference images below all courtesy of world coin gallery... too busy searching to take my own pictures )

First up was 1986 Statue of Liberty proof. Ours is a little worn but worthy of the kids collection of cool stuff.


Next we found an interesting foreign coin from Djibouti (1977). This one was actually an ender on the roll so when I went to open it all I could see were the camels. I started thinking to myself, why would a U.S. coin have camels on it??


Last up was a Columbian Exposition from 1893. Ours is in amazingly good shape. You can even see the lines on the ships sails so it's definitely going into the kids collection. We are all still in shock that this was in circulation and ended up in a strings box...


After getting so many skunks lately, it was nice to get some really interesting stuff to keep the kids and I motivated to search more!!!!

Go to your bank, credit union...ask the teller if you can place an order for change... ask for 1-2-3 boxes of halves ( The mostI can comfortably carry is 3 boxes)...they should have no problem...NEVER "dump" at that bank (not even another branch of that same bank.
