bankmining wrote:Country, not sure if this counts as a find: spotted a silver half (included in my previous post) in one of the tellers trays and asked for all the halves like I usually do as to not draw attention to the silver. Total was an odd amount so the 2 quarters I got in change included one '64 (did a quick scan of the other quarters - didn't see anything) .

I do the same when getting Teller halves.

The SILVER quarter counts - 50c in quarters searched, 1 SILVER quarter found. It's sort of like getting SILVER coins when they give you change at the grocery store. Very nice...

I found out where the Silver Santa went this year.. even if he was a few days late.

A friend of my mom's wanted to get in on the silver run-up recently so I shipped my mom $200 worth of silver about a week ago. My mom was talking to her about how I go to the bank and get half dollars to look through for silver today so they decided to give it a try. Went to a Chase Bank in Glendale, AZ and got $50 worth of halves. Out of the 5 rolls they got 62 90%ers and 7 40%ers. Beginner's luck? They immediately went back and asked for more halves.. the bank told them they didn't have any more. Not trusting the bank (for some reason) they had a friend stop in and ask for halves. The bank told the friend "We don't have any.. some fool bought them all this morning"

I guess Charlie must have missed these somehow.

Man!! That's 23.46 ounces of silver with a cost average of $1.47 per ounce. Talk about a cheap way to jump into silver. I am very envious here. :o Tell them congratulations..

$500 Brinks Box

The ugliest box of halves I ever got. 75% of the halves were marked with all colors of markers, lines, dots, letters. Poor JFK had a pink nose, a green chin, a black eye. some had 3 and 4 diff marks on them. They even put a line through a NIFC.
Skunk for silver
2 NIFC 2002D, 2007P

Maybe better luck next week.

Got some old half boxes from my source bank. Three of them had an inspection stamp of March 4, 2008, the other one was undated but looked much older. In the older box, many rolls were dirty and one roll even had a 2003 NIFC wrapper. The barber pair came out of this older box. Two more boxes to search, more details to follow tomorrow.

Nice finds Country - I haven't found one of those Barbers yet - someday.

Half Box #9 - Skunk

Half Box #10

3 1967

1 1963 Bennie
2 1964 Kennies

Also, while making a dump today I thought I saw the glint of silver in the teller tray. Asked for her halves and in the 6 she had I got a 1964.
