Last year I had been hunting in the water in area lakes for at least a month at this time. I'll be damned they are still ice fishing here, and the fishing opener is only three weeks away. But just a quick note guys and gals. If I find seven rings of any kind this year it will put me over 700. :D

Finally had some free time to tinker around with my new toy. I went back to the older park where I hit my only indian head cent. The park has been hunted hard for years. And not to mention TONS of trash...tabs, slaw, foil, cans, nails, bottlecaps, and anything else metal you can think of.

I ended up with a nice 1920 wheat and some clad. The CTX was going wild making sounds through all of the trash.

Took a break for some pizza for lunch and then headed over to the high school on a BLING hunt. Newer school but HUGE. Just a practice run to dial me in more on learning the CTX.

My third target was a nice honking .925 ring!!!

My first CTX silver find. I tried to find some gold, too. No luck there. I was digging lots of low tones learning as I go.

Here's today's finds......

The 1920 wheat..........

And the ring.....

Total of 46 coins for $4.20(including 1 wheat).
1 nice silver ring.

It is an "elvish" love ring with Tolkien script.

Here's a link for the ring that I researched......found it!

That was my first thought. I remember seeing something similar from the movie.

Some finds while learning the CTX. Found another ring yet it was junk!!!

Got some really nice signals and tones only to a have them be a thumbtack and a mystery flat rounded stone/ball. Both of these had GREAT loud readings and were both 7 to 8 inches down. Way louder than a quarter on the surface!

35 coins for $3.22 and 1 junk ring.

I added some of the garbage I dug, mostly low tones hunting gold!

No pics tonight but a very interesting mini-hunt. After my 12 hour shift at the mill I decided to hit an old little league field that dates back to 1950. It's marked off as "NO TRESSPASSING!". I got the OK to hunt it from the groundskeeper from the "newer" little league fields. He told me he would tell the "other" grounds keeper about me. Told me to fill any holes....the usual blah, blah, and more blah. Since some teams still practice here, the actual 2 fields are off-limits until after baseball is over. I ended up hunting the centerfield scoreboard and around the outside of the outfield fence. You can clearly see the old post from the "OLD" fence.

Anyway, I am finding pennies and dimes 8 to 10 inches down. All clad, no silver. All copper Abe's, too. I did find a wheat at 2 inches...???? Looks like it was there for 50 or 60 years! I decide I'm tired of 8 and 10 inch holes for pennies and dimes. I start to head for a park for a bling hunt and it looks like RAIN. I decide to stay close to home and hit an elementary school near my house. The ball fields get tons of outdoor activities. I've found 4 or 5 silver rings here and I think 1 piece of gold jewelry in the past. I'm there for about 20 minutes and here comes the police to check me out. This was at a public school. Been there 20 or more times. Never an issue with anyone. I have my earbuds on instead of those HUGE headphones and just wave at the "copper" as he goes by......only to do a U-turn back to me. I keep swinging until he pulls up close to me and starts his official duty. I can't hear him so I take out the earbuds and ask him if "I" could help him because he looks lost. Now here is the good part. He tells me they got a call from "neighbor" across the parking lot from the school about me. The neighbor wanted the police to make sure I had "CONSENT" from the school to hunt there. Now "HE", Mr.Johnny Law, wants to know if I have "CONSENT" from the school. After scratching my head and pointing to the school building that says in BIG letters.....PUBLIC SCHOOL....I ask him what he is talking about? I tell him on any given day there are dog walkers, golfers, baseball/softball teams, picnics, barbecues, and even other detectionist like myself enjoying the outdoors. Well he then gives me this speech about even though it's a public school paid for by taxpayers, that it is still PRIVATE property and I need "CONSENT". I say whatever. I asked him if he wanted me to go....that I would no problem......but.....and I said "BUT"....I do know you have a fellow officer on the force who is a freakin' professional with a metal detector. And I know he has and still hits the schools in town from time to time. Please tell me he has the "CONSENT" for the city's public schools? He knows who I am talking about and he didn't know how to answer me then. So, he tells me to hold on as he contacts the seargent on duty, his boss!!! I can't tell you how funny it was as this cop is calling the dispatcher about me. I guess the neighbor called and said I had a shovel and was digging holes. I hear him tell his boss about me and the boss tells him to tell me not to use the shovel anymore and to go back and fill all of those holes. I'm like...??????? HUH....???? Whatever. Johnny Law just tells me to be neat and to take it easy. By then back-up officer #2 shows up at 90MPH.....then slams on his brakes...looked like fun, though!!! Now what....? They both leave and I go back to swinging on my bling hunt before the rain!!!

I did find bling!!!! Only it was junk mood ring bling. Still rings are cool to find.....well gold and silver ones are! Here's the totals for the mini-hunt....
4-quarters
16-dimes
5-mickels
38-pennies(1-wheat)
63 coins for $3.23
