Anyone ever read the rules on the priority mail boxes?

When using Priority Mail, cash or cash equivalents and all hazardous materials are prohibited.Anyone ever have a problem with shipping your pennys in a medium flat rate box because of this? Or what do you say your shipping if they ask?

Natsb88 hit the nail on the head in a thread similar to this a few days back. He is absolutely right when he says that the only thing you have to tell them is that the contents are not "fragile, liquid, perishable or hazardous." Since lying to them is also breaking the law, when I ship pennies, I say that I am mailing "copper bullion." Worked out pretty good so far.

Does anybody else find it funny that the USPS says "Cash and hazardous materials are prohibited"? It's as if they know that FRNs are hazardous.

I do not tell them anything. I set up the shipping label at usps.com and just drop the box.
I'm guessing no cash because of laundering.

I have told them a couple of times that there are pennies in the box. The guy a the counter said I was the 2nd guy that week that shipped pennies.

That wasn't me, but yeah. An incoming package of mine broke open once and the postal employees all saw it was pennies when they handed it to me, but they didn't seem to care.

Don't over think it.....remember that a post office clerk is making a wage, doing a job, and really could care less what your doing unless it affects there break time or smoke break. My advice is to say as little as possible, smile a lot and nod....

just answer the hazmat question as NO.
smile and mail the box. use alota clear tape inside the box if shipping priority is a good idea. It depends on the office and the mood of the clerk also. We are ALL human and have faults,if you dont get along with one office,go to another one
I suggest going to usps.com and sign up for the click and ship. Its cheaper and you can ask for carrier pickup which is FREE without questions.Use the flat rate boxes to the max weight and REMEMBER tip your carrier and see how much EASIER this is. A few cookies or bottle of wine goes a long ways.This is off the record...lol

Im about to ship 6.5 lbs of rounds.

Looks like priority would be $19.

Now I have to repackage them in the flat rate box.
Hopefull they fit in the small one.
