100 mills

Is this as bad as I think it is?

sorry about the long link. Don't worry, I wouldn't buy anything with "mills" on it, as I know it's not worth much, but how much IS it actually worth?

Is this allowed by Ebay policy? I don't want to waste my time reporting it if they won't do anything. :|

Thanks for the link. I never heard of this particular scam before.
Another person actually purchased these on prior auction already
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... &viewitem=
Buyer paid $1259 and actually left positive feedback of some type for this seller. From feedback tho, it might have been a buyer who realized it later & nothing ever got paid for anyway, and auction cancel done. Hard to tell for sure what happened from the Buyer Feedback.

Here is a link to a discussion I found on these things.

One comment there is likely the closest as to what a mill is and what these things really are:
If we assume that ‘Mill’ is actually short for ‘Millionth’ (of an inch), it makes far more sense. The thickness of cladding would then be 0.0001 inches (0.0025mm) – which is about normal for electro-plated items. Each side of the bar would require 1/1000 of an ounce to plate, so the whole bar would take 1/500 oz.
At current prices ($30/oz) that means that each bar contains about 6 cents worth of silver.

I always understood mil used in this context as a milligram. So a 100 mils = 0.1 grams

anyone care to confirm or debunk this.

Yeah, not worth your time unless you are looking for some decoys to hide in your dresser for would-be thieves.

I just did a google and read a few responses. Commonly assumed mil to be one millionth of an inch, thus 100 mils equals a coating of one hundredth of an inch. Just imagine, these things are worthless now, but when silver is selling for $1000 an ounce someday they'll actually have some real value (they'd be worth about $2 at that point) and be all that most can afford. And we were all there at the beginning... to see the start.

bought one once by mistake.... (don't drink and ebay)... I think I paid 12 for it..... POS was 18...

Never again. I ended up droping it in a tip jar at a bar.

I feel sorry for the poor suckers he tricks with those. Did anyone happen to see his prior feedback the one for 100 facebook "likes" and he didn't even deliver.
Maybe someone should ask him a question (because those get posted on the add) if he realizes those are not 100 ounces of silver as he states.

Bob.

its worth the three 2mg Xanax's you'd have to take, to get over the headache dealing with this person.

the ole Navy intel op inside me went to look over the 47 stars with a 93.8% fav rating just to see what this person's up to, and i'd bet anything, its a he, under 30, a bike enthusiast, who used to work at Wal-Mart, until he was cashiered for thievery. i say that coz he was offering odd's and ends of bike stuff, and selling wal mart $500 gift cards for $15....now, maybe he's stolen stuff from his Dad, or Granpa....i'd complain to Ebay, myself...but i'm plumb wore out from my nightmare of a day...which reminds me, where are them thair Xanax's?

lol, neil

Yes I agree
1 millagram =.oo1grams. Each 1of his bars has 100 mills so that's 100x.001= .1 grams. Now todays silver closing was $29.06 so $29.06/31.1grams which is a troy ounce that's $0.9344 per gram. His bars are .1 gram so that's $0.9344/10 = .0934 cents per bar times 100 bars = $9.34 worth of silver in 100 bars.
