I bought at the top and got double charged

Postby scyther » Wed Jul 03, 2013 7:37 am

:(

I saw the price on a rapid upward trajectory and made a quick decision to finally pull the trigger on a 10-ounce bar from Provident. Somehow it charged me for 2. Of course, it stopped going up the moment I bought. I don't want 2 of the same generic bar :( !

Does anyone know if they will correct this, or will I have to get charged for "market loss"?

Ugh. I am not buying any more silver until it hits $9 an ounce.

It's not even a cool coin or something. I wish I had just bought those Takus...

If the 2 vs 1 error was provably their problem rather than pilot error you can plead your case with them. Otherwise you'll have to suck it up.

You didn't buy at the top unless you bought at $49. (Which I did.) So, frankly, I have limited sympathy for that issue. You're talking about what, a 50 cent difference, so a $5-10 "loss"? If you're concerned about that you shouldn't be buying metal at all.

Sorry, I might be in a slightly grumpy mood this morning, but I don't think I'm off base either.

You're not, I was mostly joking about that. Let's just call it a very local top :P I hope I can get that second one taken off though...

Scyth, I don't know whether you're "out" for the week, but I been watching an Ebay seller, offer 10 toz bars in 2 lots for about a month. I never do bars, as you know I prefer US silver coins, but he seems square, and is getting $400 plus, ever since the down draft.....he's got some ending in a bit, heres the link to one listing, so you can see what else he has, which all 10 toz bars, offered in 2 lots...hope this helps, neil

Hm. Decent price; Provident's cheaper.

As it turns out, I was able to get one bar taken off my order. I feel comfortable now; if it goes up, I didn't miss the dip; if it goes down, at least I didn't buy two!

That's about 50 cents cheaper than they are (and were yesterday) at provident. Maybe I should have bought the Takus, but I wasn't sure I wanted to spend that much money, and you save a lot by buying at least 20. It also didn't say that they would come in an original mint tube, and I want to make sure they were original coins (not something that someone sold back to them, which could be counterfeit).

Scyth,
that is a VERY legitimate concern you bring up, so much so, that I am very leery , and quite frankly spooked out, about even 2013 ASES roll purchases I see now, in very greater numbers on Ebay, from sellers I've never seen before.

these sellers, some of who have hundreds of transactions on Ebay , are most probably straight up.......its me, I'M SPOOKED, it was those visits to "alibaba" that got me....it was about, maybe 8 months ago, and I would have to say, that did indeed rock me.

so what to do?...well, the ASES I have, rolls, I have high confidence, that they are, the real McCoy....not coz they're mine, but because they were bought from sellers, who's rep is unimpeachable.

continuing further, the only answer I can think of is, learning to assay, to garner 100% confidence.
