Chris, results like my recent eight boxes are probably more the norm, guess I've been spoiled by finding prior boxes with higher content. Just goes to show you how unusual the occasional phenomenal box is. I haven't found one yet with more than perhaps twenty silvers out of 1000, but some members report incredible finds, both in percentage and type (walkers, barbers). Just have to keep searching. It's all free

Asked at one of my banks if they had any pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters or halves. They said they had 1 half dollar, did I want it. Of course I did!

As she plunked down on the counter I could simultaniously see and hear that it was 40%!
I like those kinds of percentages.

Last week I started to get older boxes, most dated March 2008. As you remember, this was around the time that the recession began to take hold. I remember folks bringing in buckets of coins in 2008 when they brought them to banks that had the counting machines. This box was dated March 4, 2008 and I got a good one tonight.

$500 Halves - String Box

This box had the same date and Inspector mark as the 40 SILVER box. I got excited when I saw that the date and inspector was exactly the same. Unfortunately, it was not the companion box to it.

Report on dimes searched:

$125.00 -- 25 CWRs

Silver dimes found - one -- 1/1963D
2009 dimes found - nine -- all P mintmark
Other found - six -- 6/2010P US Dimes; ONE -- 1/1943D Steel Penny(The roll that produced this steel penny also had one 2009P Dime for the kids' anniversary jar AND IT CONTAINED 51 COINS!!!!!!!)


Other stats: Two rolls shorted twenty cents each roll, Three rolls over ten cents each roll--If you count the overage roll with the steel penny then that is six out of 25 rolls that were not correct in coin count. Don't people care anymore or can't they count???

Overage/shortage total: Shorted 10 cents

185 rolls of pennies 20.21% Cu. with an extra 84 pennies and 4 clad dimes.
