I sent a member a PM with a subject line including the unedited version of BS.
It was edited to Bull[excrement].
Does this happen automatically or do the admins/mods read and edit my PM's?

Almost every forum software has what is called a "bad words" filter option which can be edited to replace any words on a list with one that is considered less offensive. This option is enabled when the forum is set up and the list is edited at that time. After the initial setup the software takes over and does the replacement automatically.

Example: I will attempt to type the phrase pile of s h i t - pile of [shucks]

Over at Bullion Stacker the term "fluffy kitten" shows up all the time. That is an auto edit of some other word.

No, they are not reading your private messages..

There is an automatic word filter built into the forum software. Nobody is reading your PMs (except you and the recipient).
