'V' nickel in the bank junk bin

Postby J_Dodge » Thu Dec 26, 2013 9:37 pm

I was at the bank which holds our mortgage this morning, making a house payment. Also had the teller run some
coins thru their machine (it's behind the counter - not customer accessible), and asked her to check the junk bin for me.

The teller comes back w/ a funny look on her face, and put a single coin on the counter in front of me. I had to look at it twice, as
I thought it was a foreign coin on my first look - then I saw 'United States of America' and I got excited.

Lady Liberty's head is mostly worn smooth, but you can still see some bits of hair detail, as well as eyes, nose and mouth. The
date is easily read (1912). The V side has some wear, but all text is legible.

This is a first for me - have never seen one of these except in pics. The rush I got on this coin was almost as good as when I
found my 1904 Indian Head penny.
