Resources to identify world or us coins

Postby lewbo » Fri Jan 03, 2014 10:28 pm

Please make some recommendations on online or books that can help to identify world and us coins. I see some of you are great at it. I have a official red book for us coins, but would like some resources that would quickly help id world coins an would give the silver content. Of course free resources are the best. Also some advice on good search techniques. I have quite a collection of world coins ad I am trying to determine value and history.
Selling US pennies 1.9 face shipped. Never mind I am keeping everything!

2 sites I use

http://www.numista.com

http://www.worldcoingallery.com

I have a 10 year old copy of the standard catalog of world coins from 1901 to present as well

by Krause publications

http://www.amazon.com/2014-Standard-Cat ... 1440235678

great for identifying - prices they show are on the high side, but great for mintages and weights
My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.

The NGC site, Prices tend to run high, but the interactive search function is great.

The paper copies of the Krause manuals can't be beat. I buy them whenever I can at library sales usually for $1.50 and pass them on here. I've sold 10-12 in the past 2 years at cost plus shipping. Buy some used ones on amazon.
