Earlier today I posted about only finding 2 silver dimes in 4 boxes. After edge searching for silver, I searched the clad by hand looking for ones to put in the album (still have 6 dates that I haven't found a good example of yet; almost done). After a while I heard the sound of silver. I saw a silver looking dime. Sure enough, it had an S on the back, which could only be silver. Turned it around and... 1949! Second lowest mintage in the series, and apparently considered the key date for whatever reason. If I can find this one, maybe it's possible to complete this set from circulation after all... 50 years after the last silver dimes were made
. Not such a bad box after all.
267,500 pennies and 186,000 nickels searched. Hand sorter.
