Indonesia put an export ban on nickel, so the US price rose. The US nickel is now almost back to 5 cents (melt value) according to coinflation. I've read that there are only $4 of nickels for every US citizen.

Not a particularily good sign for global peace when nickel starts rising this fast. The last time that the US swapped out nickel metal for silver, WWII.

When SHTF in a big way, gold is soft - what you really want is twenty pounds of hard armored nickel on your head and chest.

With the CAD dollar at .91 to the US dollar, a Canadian nickel is now about 10 cents CDN.

Yeah, I mentioned it at the coin shop, that there were some pretty common types (Canada nickels, French francs and half francs, Netherlands stuff) that were pure nickel, and there were people amassing them for bullion. It was the first he had ever heard of it, or even thought of it.
