I just found my first hobo in circulation. Curious if it's one of your guys' work.

I hope I did this right for seeing the photo...

If that is an old original hobo nickel it is worth some decent money as there is a good market for them. Check out the e-bay sales.

BWR of nickels in a $100 Brinks box. Saw the darkened side of the Buffalo first and got excited, turned it over to find the "new" obverse and did some research on here because I've only heard of these, never seen one before.

The e-bay market has gotten pretty overwhelmed with modern hobo's so it is pretty hit and miss to sell them there these days except for the exceptionally talented. Here is one I just finished. I just reset up my work bench and have been trying to improve a little.

It is more like a desk than a bench and not all that impressive, but I like it!

Pretty dang impressive imo. Ball vice, gravers, microscope.... Looks like a pretty kick'n setup.

I have serious ball vice envy....better than gluing a nickle to a hammer.

Tell me more about your optics.

It is a Mejii scope (Japanese) I got used from an professional engraver in California. It actually has another lens piece that fits on it which turns it into a real strong microscope, but it is too powerful for me then so I leave it off. I can see how the metal cuts and bends with it which I can't with the naked eye. It is pretty amazing how one can do such precise movements when you can see them. I don't know much about it other than that and it adjusts easily and seems like it will last forever. They have them on e-bay. I have a florescent ring light on it in addition to the two lights shown but I may try a 144 LED ring light to see how that works. They have fiber optic ring lights but they are really expensive. One day I will actually set up a power graver and get a dentist type power drill instead of just using a dremel. If you know where I can find a cheap used one I could use for this purpose let me know!

I envy folks who can work with their hands in this manner. I can't even do wood whittling without cutting myself.
