Well here we go for today's haul. The silver has been getting slim pickings around here but at least I am getting some.

Bank #1

Box #2 $500.00 Halves
Skunk

Bank #2
$200.00 Halves from coin counter (1 90%)
(1) 1964-D
(1) Canadian Toonie

Bank #3
$100.00 Halves BWR
Skunk for silver
(1) 2004-S Clad Proof

Bank #4
$100.00 Halves CWR
Skunk

Bank #5
$30.00 Halves CWR (1 40%)
(1) 1967

Bank #6
$92.00 Halves from coin counter (1 40% and 1st foreign silver of the year)
(1) 1967
(1) 1914 Romanian 2 Lei which is .835 silver at 10 grams ASW 0.2684 oz.
(1) Canadian Toonie

Bank #7
$60.00 Halves CWR
Skunk

$250.00 box of Dimes (1 Silver Roosie)
(1) 1964-D

Bank #8
$510.00 Halves CWR (1 90%)
(1) 1960 Proof Franklin
I had 1 roll that was long 1 Half Dollar Net +$0.50

Bank #9
$250.00 Dimes CWR (1 Silver Roosie)
(1) 1964-D
I had 4 rolls that were long 1 dime Net +$0.10

Do you guys seem to find a lot of the Canadian $2.00 coins? I have found like 5 or 6 so far this year. I think the Canadian Dollar is trading very close to Par. What can I do with all of my Canadian Toonies? Anyone interested in buying them if I collect enough?

Or are you standing in line repeatedly to approach each teller individually? You trippers are the ones hitting the big scores, not the orderers.

When I get to the teller I ask her if she has any half dollar coins available. After she says yes or no, I ask her if any other tellers do, and she usually calls over to them. Sometimes they take it upon themselves to ask the other tellers without me asking them to, and sometimes the other tellers overhear me and call out that they have some. One thing that's common in most banks is that tellers are eager to get rid of their half dollars.

I do 7 boxes of halves every week, but I really look forward to the road trips because , like you said, the big scores are there to be had.

Nick

When I do take road trip and look for halves, the same thing happens. Sometimes I ask the teller if anyone else has any. Sometimes the teller will ask the other tellers for halves. They are more than eager to dump them on you.

1st silver of the year....came in change from the candy machine! 1964 roosie....funny thing was when I took it out of the change slot....I dropped it....and, of course, that beautiful sound of silver when it hit the concrete floor. I'm like "no freakin' way!". It only cost me a dime!

Got lucky picking up 2 boxes of nickels at a supermarket branch today.

I had been asked by the manager to bring in some coins I had found and since I had just been to a coin show, I brought some US gold coins, silver dollar tubes and a variety of nickels I had found plus 2 and 3 cent pieces and a couple half dimes to round my show and tell out.

Turns out the manager was busy with a customer but one of the tellers was interested.

While showing her the silver dollars she says "oh, I have some of those"

She then says tha no, she has silver half dollars and procedes to get them out of a pocket in her drawer.

She said she had thought she might buy them but that I could have them!

The customer next to me was kicking himself out of the corner of my eye.

Remaining calm, I bought all 12 40%ers she had.

1X65'
2X66'
4X67'
2X68D
3X69D

Very happy. These supermarket branches never seem to get anything interesting usually.

Whoever has the longest skunk streak better watch out.

Half Box #41 - Skunk

Half Box #42 - Skunk

That's 12 in a row and 25 out of the last 30.
If you are waiting for the "correction" to buy you need to realize that the increasing prices ARE the correction.

$100 Silver soon coming to a location near you.

2-Boxes Niks
1-WN

Also found another 1950D in XF condition plus VF-XF 1938 and 38D and a 1951S. They all have a very similar surface and very nice condition which makes me think they were previously collected and dumped.

I have found a number of 50D's in the last year. This is my second nicest.

WOW! I'm still shaking from this find... this is proof that it pays to call ahead and go a little out of the way on the drive home, even for something as small as $15 in halves, as you never know what's in store.

$10 CWR - SOLID 90% silver

1 1940 S, 1 1942 S, 4 1943, 2 1943 S, 2 1944, 1 1944 S, 1 1952 D, 2 1961 D, 2 1962, 2 1962 D and 2 1963 D

$5 loose halves in an envelope - ALL 90% silver

1 '36 D, 1 1937, 1 1939 D, 1 1941 S, 1 1943, 1 1944, 1 1950, 1 1951, 1 1954 D and 1 1960

PICS!

I think I stopped breathing for a few moments when I spilled these out
Image

What an innocent looking envelope... I could hear a 40%er or two when I picked it up, or so I thought
Image

30 90% silver halves

This is a nice sized stack in comparison to the phone lol

Congrats. I could imagine how you felt. Last week I found the full roll of 40%ers and I stopped breathing. I had 26 more rolls to go but nothing in them.

Absolutely amazing Heartkill!! I'm hoping to find one of those solid 90% rolls someday. I can only imagine the feeling you had just dumping those out into your hand.. Did the roll feel heavier to you at all?

I scored my first Walkers of the year today!! And found my first 1970 Half Dollar as well!!

Bank #1
$50.00 Halves CWR (9 40%)
(2) 1965
(3) 1966
(3) 1967
(1) 1968-D

Bank #2
$20.00 in Ike's (The teller told me she had some "Old School Dollars" and wanted to know if I wanted them. I said of course, hoping that "Old School Dollars" meant Morgans and Peace Dollars, Nope..)
Skunk on silver

Bank #3
$357.00 Halves from coin counter (2 90% and 3 40%)
(1) 1936 Walker
(1) 1944-S Walker
(1) 1968-D
(1) 1969-D
(1) 1970-D

$500.00 sealed bag of Dimes BWR (2 Silver Roosie's)
(2) 1964-D
and the bag was long a full roll of Dimes so net +$5.00

Happy Hunting Everyone!!

You know, it did feel heavier than normal but I always put them in my center console and wait until I get home to search. The ones in the envelope had that familiar "pinging" sound, so I figured there was at least 1 or 2 in there. The teller didn't even count them out to me at the window but I'm glad she didn't, as I would have been a wreck watching her stack those up in front of me  I'm going to go back today and ask her where she likes to eat lunch and get her a $15 gift certificate or something.
