Mystery .999 Stash

Postby Morsecode » Sun Nov 30, 2014 11:33 am

Going through the closet this morning, pulled out a leather jacket I have not worn since forever. Thinking maybe 1986-ish, when I was still a scrawny 160lbs. For laughs I attempt to stuff myself into it, and surprisingly it fits ok on the shoulders...not so well elsewhere.

A obligatory search of the pockets turns up a matchbook (ex-smoker), a couple sticky coughdrops (ex-smoker), and what's this..? A handful of nickels in the left waist pocket. Thirty-three to be exact, all Canada .999 :?

Back then I may have dabbled in coins and silver occasionally, but no way nickel. Their placement and purpose is no mystery; customary to carry small metal objects on the left side of a motorcycle. The idea being you toss them over your shoulder after passing the a-hole who just cut you off. Course, most guys would use 1/2" nuts...I guess I had money to throw away back then.

No clue how, why I had a pocketful of beavers.

Metal objects too expensive. I throw the "BIRD"

I'm more curious about the Indian pin than the nickels - pretty cool!

I always like the looks of early British motorcycles. Norton especially. Thanks for the information.
