Prices are dropping even more...

#2 ins wire down to $.85
electric motors down to $.20

if prices keep falling not sure what to do, can only stock pile so much waiting for prices to go back up. I am holding on to almost 200 lbs #2 ins wire hoping for the price to go back to a buck, so far cost me $30.00  Sure gas is cheaper and lots less people scrapping so you can get more stuff...

thrift store sold me 4 file cabinets for 12.00/// a couple hours of pulling the handles ]aluminum} . a pipe wrench to remove some of the spot welded pieces to get upgraded to 'prepared' vs the sheet price for the cabinets. and the bonus , one drawer had a 100 hanging file folders, another had 4 strands of xmas lights. which worked.

ouch to the wire. as I bought a tote full of nonwoking lights for 3.00

I complained about how the young men that man the scales were screwing over folks. .... made me had that they paid .10 ---copper content for motors.

Question for hobo finds and cwgii-- Do you guys (both in Tucson) drive around a lot to find the items you are scrapping? Do you mainly get items left out in front of houses for pickup or go to business dumpsters or do something else? It is amazing how much stuff you guys scrap. Any tips you could provide for the rest of us on finding scraps would be most appreciated.

substantial. If not prepared to buy it multiple times in modest amounts without going overboard (assuming nothing really wrong with the company), you need to learn more about the market and managing risk. Also, please research covered calls (options) and selling short as well.

Cut thru alleys when I am going somewhere. And then we have large item clean up twice a year in different areas of the city.

What do you mean by craigslist curb alerts? Does that mean someone on craigslist says they have a bunch of junk in front of their home? If so, that seems dangerous (not for you, but for the person who is putting their home address out on the web for all to see).

standard practice here. one way to get rid of 90% of stuff. lol lame when someone opens up a tv, takes the copper and maybe the boards and leaves the rest there for the homeowner.
